Are you suffering from ‘WHY CAN’T I BE BETTER’ Syndrome?🤓

Some people will do anything to make themselves appear bigger, including trying to make the world seem small.

“LET ME KNOW HOW THAT WORKS”

Hey guys!
Quite a big weekend for me. Yes, it is! As I took a giant break from writing, bombarded self with lots of studies, works and launching a new venture. (To know more visit : www.thestonestudio.in) Tackled rainy day hurdles, collaborated with lot more clients and learned a lot about some positive and negative aspects of business and life as well. Ignored personal talks, chit chat weekends and trekking around sessions. So basically, I was busy and I’m glad I was. Sometimes, being busy keeps you protected from all suppressing emotions which make your vibes dim and passive. Keeps your inner distressed soul, activated and triggered. At least I’m not feeling down or disappointed and I’m out of any interpersonal conflicts.

Everybody in their life deals with a situation which makes them distressed, disappointed or unfulfilled. It may be way old thoughts, disbelief of surroundings or some interpersonal interactions which provokes you to think low about self. Now, this is indeed unpleasant but that’s normal, that’s life.

However, if you are reading this and thinking bad about self. Feeling that there is nothing good in you, if you constantly believe that you lack values and doubt your abilities, comparing self with others every now and then- you may have an inferiority complex. Now, a big question- WHAT’S THIS?

WHAT IS INFERIORITY COMPLEX?

So, let’s take it personally. I had a phase in my life when I had completely distressed my mind, unstabled my soul and isolated my life from others. Completely drenched into the books, created a miserable realm around and entitled it to self. I fixated on my perceived weaknesses and constantly compared myself to others in an unfavorable light. Everybody has flaws, but that particular time provoked me to focus on my flaws more and gradually it made its way to a pervasive feeling of unhappiness. So, that’s my phase of INFERIORITY COMPLEX.

This above-elaborated description is quite a good example to understand this phase better. Knowing the cause of occurrence is equally a vital part and cause can be anything that occurred frequently in your early stages or any unpleasant present day scenario. It may be a harsh criticism at school, your parents or friends gave you the message that you are not good enough or any personal detachments which created a negative aspect towards life. Opposite of inferiority complex is the superiority complex. Which aggravates you to believe that you are better than everyone else. Crazy right? We still have a midway out and that’s a healthy perspective. We will surely look at how to cultivate a healthy perspective in the final section of this post.

HOW TO TEST YOUR INFERIORITY COMPLEX?

Guys, there is no official test to find out whether you have adopted this trait. But, we can jot down a few signs which generally sufferers deal with.

1.NEGATIVE THOUGHTS AROUND SOCIAL MEDIA!

I have come across many people dealing with this particular symptom of feeling jealous in social media. A small phase of disappointment when you see other people’s happy experience.

2. CREATING OR IMAGINING NEGATIVE JUDGEMENTS!

In this symptom, you by default take yourself into the negative side. Your default assumption will be that other people don’t like you or think you are valuable, no matter what they say.

3. FEELING WORTHLESS!

People suffering from this issue generally start comparing their own deeds with the best works of others and create a huge mirage of disappointment that why they can’t reach the same heights of success.

4. SENSITISING SELF TOWARDS CRITICISM!

Even constructive criticisms will make you feel like attacked and leads to self-loathing situations.

5. TRYING TO BE PERFECT!

People sometimes feel that if the deed is not perfect then it’s a failure. This gradually creates a pitiful environment for the soul.

6. DIFFICULTY IN STANDING FOR SELF!

People feel difficulty about talking, what they actually want to. Constantly feel bullied and generate a lack of confidence.

HOW TO GET RID OF AN INFERIORITY COMPLEX?

And the good news is, you don’t have to reach out a psychiatrist or need not to opt for a medical talk session with your doctor to overcome this issue.
The solution is just in your mind, in your soul and it sometimes alarms you to activate itself. There is always plenty of effective things you can do at your ease. Just think upon a question – WHY I AM FEELING WORTHLESS? Answers may provoke you to believe them but you just have to work on the opposite. Try to start doing it and check your progress on a weekly and monthly basis.

OVERCOMING PROCESS🤓

1. STOP WORRYING ABOUT WHAT OTHERS THINK!

The most important thing a person can do to destroy an inferiority complex is to cutting self from other’s judgement. Those judgments create a mirage of being worthless and disappointment towards self. Sometimes, this will relate to things what people actually said to you and at the other time it will be, what you visualized or created in your mind. Just remember, at the end of the day only one thing matters that’s you and what you think about yourself.

Research states that, when a person thinks favorable about self, everyone else automatically starts thinking positive. If you feel beautiful, everyone finds that vibe in you. It will appear on your face. So, how can you stop feeling about someone’s outlook? The answer is, just focus on yourself. Think about what you like the most. Start accomplishing your goals. This will gradually subside the feeling of thinking about others. You will spend far less energy on worrying about others and create more positive energy to invest in the self.

2. BE CONFIDENT ABOUT SELF!

There are so many ways to work on building self-confidence. But, I’m jotting a few here:-
Treat yourself better: When you start taking care of self, every single negative thought starts subsiding its way. Eating well, exercising, creating a great journal for your daily routines etc. You can opt for any such positive work what you like. Well, in my case I choose gardening, yoga routines and photography. That’s what I feel positive about.
Be authentic to yourself: In search of positivity, people start portraying what they are actually not. Every person has something in them to feel proud of. Try to be authentic and try to discover what you are made for. If you get some hurdles in between fight for it. This will truly create a sense of self-confidence in you.
Act confident and be reasonable: Many times people backout thinking of a future failure. Be confident and present your thoughts with reasonings. This will stop you from being a failure and enhance your chances to grab self-confidence.

3. SURROUND YOURSELF WITH POSITIVE PEOPLE!

It’s a common phenomenon that a lot of inferiority comes from the person who surrounds us. Perform an inventory of your social circle, try to find out the people who are constantly pulling you down, don’t care about your caring behavior or making you feel worthless. Start thinking about creating a distance from them. To develop better self-esteem and a more positive sense of your identity, find people who build you and support you.

4. FIND THE PERSON WHO YOU FEEL INFERIOR TO!

The most important of all is to find out the person or the trait you feel inferior to. This can be anything, physically attractive people, those who have an impressive dynamic career, people with large social groups or rich people with a lavish lifestyle. Once you come up with the results, try to find a person with the same trait in your life and try to fetch the traits what you think you have, are better than them. You will soon find some incredible qualities you are good and better than anybody could ever think of.

Finally, I want you to believe in yourself. What you are is a dream for many. Focus on the positive surrounding you are living in. Be thankful for what you have got. I suggest you to use a technique of self-talk. The term “self-talk” refers to how you speak to yourself in your own mind; the words you use, the tone you imagine, and the origins of your inner critic. This will surely work when you remind yourself to be positive and productive towards self daily.

    • Thank you so much for your liking to this write-up. I actually faced this in my life for a particular time period and I just wasted a hell lot of time in managing things around. I don't want anyone to get through those traumatic situations. Thanks for sharing your views☺

  • Feelings which I am currently tackling... Thank you so much for sharing and helping me how to deal with it....

  • One way or another we always come across people having an inferiority complex, be it in school, at work or it can be your boss! (from my experience). In most cases, they are not even aware of it. People having this or shall I say, attitude problem? I always think that it is a part of their past; there are reasons why they think and act that way. It is just that over the years I don't get bothered at them anymore and I will always have compassion and hope that they may change their outlook in life. We should be at their arms reach in case they need help or once they acknowledge the problem.

    • Thank you so much for sharing your feelings! I'm glad you got over those thoughts and I too hope for them to take a break from so-called 'attitude'.
